Short Game Practice
Putting
While the golf course is still hibernating, it’s time to
get your body and your game in shape.
Start with putting practice, inside, on a short nap carpet, or if you plan
to play in the Masters, on a linoleum floor. A yardstick laid on the floor
is helpful in assisting your backswing control. Remember, a basic rule of
thumb, if you accelerate normally through a ball, for every inch you take
the putter back the ball will roll a foot forward (assuming your putting on
a flat green). To practice listening for the ball to go in the hole and to
keep your body still, also practice with your forehead resting against a
door frame.
As far as your body goes, a strong back starts with strong abs, so get
started now.
Check back often for more tips and drills.
